The Ravenala grows in the Caribbean and is recognizable by its huge fans. The plant is also known by its German name "Baum der Reisenden" and its English name "Traveler's Palm."
The name comes from the fact that thirsty travelers can obtain drinking water by piercing the hollow leaf sheaths.
