Montecristo, the Italian island halfway between Corsica and the Italian mainland, with its highest point, the Monte della Fortezza (Italian: Mount of the Fortress), is the namesake for this ring.

The special feature: The entire island was designated a nature reserve in 1970 and can only be entered with special permission. Since only about 1,000 visitors per year are allowed, the waiting time for this is about three years. A visit is therefore an absolute tourist rarity.
