"Fascinating Creatures of the Sea" - The "Maricia" Necklace

A seemingly endless variety of impressive creatures can be found in the oceans and seas of our planet. The place where silence and beauty reign. Alongside various aquatic plants, fish, starfish, corals, crabs, and seahorses frolic in their full grace, while the octopus impresses with its unique ability to adapt to different environments.

The color palette of this marine habitat encompasses a wide range of blues, turquoises, and greens – and is also reflected in the "gifts of the sea" – the gemstones and pearls.

The unique piece "Maricia" (Latin for "coming from the sea"), handcrafted with feeling, is a tribute to this magic. Opulent yet very delicately crafted, many loving individual parts form a beautiful whole. Tiny shells, a seahorse that only reveals itself as a shy little detail upon closer inspection, corals, tiny snails, and at the center: an octopus.

The necklace, crafted from 925 sterling silver, is adorned with 162 gemstones of various types, sizes, and qualities. The coloring reflects the diversity of colors in the underwater world. Harmoniously dominated by Larimar, a gemstone found only in the Dominican Republic. With its turquoise-blue color, it is reminiscent of the clear waters of the Caribbean and is considered a symbol of ocean energy. It is said to help reduce stress, calm the mind, and create a harmonious atmosphere.

The combination of Larimar and octopus immediately creates a harmonious connection between the gemstone and the maritime theme. However, hidden beneath is a deeper symbolism of both elements: strengthened with inner peace and serenity, to face life's challenges, to remain flexible, and to adapt to changes. It is therefore a given that the opulent masterpiece, with its perfect craftsmanship, adapts to the décolletage of the wearer with maximum comfort.

Dripping water droplets, subtly hidden freshwater pearls with a grey/blue tint, movable gemstone tassels, and many other small details can only be recognized at second glance, giving the "Maricia" necklace its very special charm.

This unique piece was crafted with great emotion and much attention to detail specifically for the "Fascinating Creatures of the Sea" competition, showcasing high craftsmanship.
