Legnica Jewellery Festival Silver 2024 / Exhibition in POLAND
Between the years – when "normal" people enjoy the turn of the year and take time off work – a tender caught my attention:
"EMPATHY" will be the next theme of the 32nd International Jewellery Competition, the main event of the SILBER 2024 Jewellery Festival in Legnica. The competition is organized by the Gallery of Art in Legnica and is the most important event of the Legnica SILVER Festival – a unique overview of contemporary jewellery art in Poland and Europe. It is also one of the oldest initiatives to promote contemporary artistic jewellery in Europe and supports creative explorations at the intersection of art, craft, and design."
A piece of jewelry on the theme of "Empathy". Most of my jewelry, especially my unique pieces, are full of details and symbolism that evoke emotions... but a piece that directly symbolizes "Empathy"??? My ideas were racing. I couldn't help but spend the – actually work-free Christmas holiday – at the workbench. I infected my wife with my bubbling ideas; a text was also required. The completion time was extremely tight, as I had only read about it barely three weeks before the registration deadline. So I immediately got started, sketched my ideas, sat down at the workbench, and refined my ideas day by day...
And that's how "Affetto" – it. affection – was created

Result:
"A total of 295 artists from a record 45 countries participated in the competition this year. Works by 44 artists from 20 countries were selected."
We weren't among the winners, but that wasn't my expectation at all. The Olympic idea was much more important to me anyway. Nevertheless, we were informed that some of the non-qualified works were presented in a separate Holownia exhibition. And we were chosen for this. What an honor!
